Recognition and Calling for Help
Fast early access to equipment and extra help will increase the patient’s chance or survival. On finding patient in a collapsed state , your action is to ensure that the area is safe
We then need to get a response from the patient by providing a shake and shout
If not responding – shout for help.
Next to open the airway by placing a hand on the chin and the back of the head an tilt the head backwards.
Once the air way is open check to see if the patient is breathing – if after 10 seconds you have no breathing and no signs of life your patient is in cardiac arrest!
